Privacy

This page describes what the Wikinews MCP demonstration records when you connect an AI assistant to it, and why. It is a plain-language summary for this one site; the full policy that governs it is Miso's privacy policy, which prevails if the two ever differ.

Wikinews MCP is operated by Miso Technologies, Inc., 548 Market St #38620, San Francisco, CA 94104-5401, United States. Miso is located in the United States and does all of its processing there.

What is collected when you sign in

Access is granted through OAuth. When your assistant first connects, your browser opens Miso's sign-in page, where you sign in with your email address. The email address is held by Miso's sign-in service under the privacy policy. What the sign-in service hands this server — and what this server stores against your session — is an account identifier and, where applicable, a plan tier. This server does not see or store your password.

Your assistant receives an access token (short-lived) and a refresh token (valid for at most 30 days, after which you sign in again). Tokens are held by your assistant, not by us; removing the server from your assistant, or signing out there, ends the session.

What is collected when you use the tools

Each tool call is recorded, in the same way as any Miso-powered search: the question or search text, the articles returned and which one was fetched, your account identifier, the time, and the client that made the call. This record is kept in Miso's analytics stores in the United States.

Why we record it is what the privacy policy describes as learning from queries to improve the service and auditing its performance: to understand what people ask the archive, to find searches that return poor results, to keep the service up and responsive, to spot abuse of the archive (the article tool only returns what a search just surfaced, for the same reason), and — because this is a product demonstration — to see how the demo is used.

How long it is kept follows the privacy policy: personal data is deleted when it is no longer necessary for the purposes it was processed for, unless the law requires a longer retention period.

Your choices and rights

You can stop the collection at any time by removing the server from your assistant.

To the extent provided by applicable law, you can ask Miso for access to the personal data it holds about you, for a copy of it, to correct or erase it, to transfer it to another controller, or to restrict or object to its processing. There is no charge. Write to privacy@askmiso.com; Miso responds within the time the law requires.

If you are in the EU or the UK: Miso is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Complaints go first to privacy@askmiso.com; unresolved ones can be referred, free of charge, to BBB National Programs. Details are in the privacy policy.
